About Heather, Wooly Owl Fibers

Hi fellow knitters & crocheters!
I’m Heather, the dyer, maker, photographer, and cozy-color-obsessed heart behind Wooly Owl Fibers.
My yarn journey began in 2018, when I started selling wholesale to sites like Zulily.com. It was then that I first fell in love with dye pots, color theory, and the magic of watching bare yarn transform into something vibrant and full of life. What started as a creative escape quickly grew into a dream — a dream of having my very own yarn shop filled with colorways that spark joy and inspire beautiful, handmade pieces, such as socks, sweaters, and everything else that us Yarnies love to make!
In 2020, I lost my job due to Covid-19, and like so many people, I suddenly had to rethink everything. Instead of letting fear take over, I poured myself into yarn dyeing. It became my comfort, my purpose, and my way forward. My little shop began to grow, and I finally felt like I was walking toward my calling.
But life has its seasons. When my grandma entered Hospice Care, my mom and I stepped in as her caregivers. Family has always been my foundation, so I pressed pause on my growing yarn business to be by her side.

Even during that challenging chapter, I never let go of my dream. It stayed tucked safely in my heart — waiting for the right moment to bloom again. I'm a firm believer that everything happens at the right time, and to simply trust the process of the bigger picture the universe has.
And now… here I am. Starting fresh, reinvented, and more inspired than ever.

Over the years, as I learned to knit more and more, I discovered so much about what makers actually love and need. I understand the rhythm of the knitting and crochet community on a deeper level — the excitement of casting on something new, the comfort of a favorite project, the thrill of using mohair yarn held together to create a luxurious sweater, and the way fiber brings people together.
Wooly Owl Fibers is more than a shop to me — it’s the continuation of a dream, reshaped through resilience, love, and a whole lot of yarn. Every skein is dyed with heart, intention, and a sprinkle of my goofy Pisces energy.
Seeing what customers create with my products and knowing I'm designing something that beginner and advanced crafters will use that speaks to them, simply fills my heart with so my joy! With that being said, don't be a stranger and follow/tag me on Instagram @Wooly_Owl_Fibers.
At this moment, I currently reside in Southern California with my boyfriend and our cat Little Miss.

Thank you for being here and supporting this journey. It means more than you know. 🧶💛
